Summary

'A stunning mix of hilarious tropes, swoony romance and lovable, relatable characters。 A must read for every romance lover!' Ali Hazelwood, author of The Love Hypothesis

Ren
I'm a player on the team, she's on staff, and as long as we work together, dating is off-limits。 Frankie won't be here forever - she's headed for bigger, better things。 I just hope that when she leaves the team and I tell her how I feel, she won't want to leave me behind, too。

Frankie
Before I got wise, I would have tripped over myself to get a guy like Ren, but with my diagnosis, I've learned what I am to most people in my life - a problem, not a person。 Now, opening my heart to anyone is the last thing I'm prepared to do。 And not even a guy as sweet as Ren can change that。。。

A forbidden love sports romance about a nerdy, late-blooming hockey star, and his tough cookie coworker who keeps both her soft side and her autism diagnosis to herself。

Praise for Chloe Liese:

⭐️⭐️ I appreciated learning from the heroine who has autism and has rheumatoid arthritis , also that it is an “own voice” author。 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Steamy。

This is my favorite kind of contemporary romance。 So much feelings, characters with their own challenges to overcome, real reasons not to be together that have to be worked out, things that make me cry, and understanding something new about human nature。 Ren (Soren) and Frankie (Francesca) work together, Ren is 100% into Frankie but is waiting till they can date to approach her。 Frankie has rheumatoid arthritis and autism, she has enough experience with physical health and masking her autism wit This is my favorite kind of contemporary romance。 So much feelings, characters with their own challenges to overcome, real reasons not to be together that have to be worked out, things that make me cry, and understanding something new about human nature。 Ren (Soren) and Frankie (Francesca) work together, Ren is 100% into Frankie but is waiting till they can date to approach her。 Frankie has rheumatoid arthritis and autism, she has enough experience with physical health and masking her autism with most people that she avoids relationships, especially romantic ones。 But Ren works his way into her heart by being sweet and kind, and having a hockey bubble butt。 This was great, maybe 4。5⭐️ because there were a few plot points that were for romance reasons, which is fine but ended being for 1 scenes。 (There’s an annoying character that is in the beginning that we never see with any purpose again, except he is contagious with bronchitis。 Frankie also has a lot of inner dialogue and shit about her family but only has one video call with her mom on page。)There are a lot of Harry Potter references here。 The author does call out JK Rowling for being a shit though。 。。。more

Frankie is the hockey team's social media coordinator。 Ren is the team's alternative captain。 They've secretly been crushing on each other for years and this slow burn story is how they get together。 Frankie is autistic and has rheumatoid arthritis, both aspects I felt were handled with care but your experience may vary。 In general, sports settings just are not ones I tend to read。 I don't have much to say about the hockey setting as it is just sort of background to me。 Overall, I enjoyed this s Frankie is the hockey team's social media coordinator。 Ren is the team's alternative captain。 They've secretly been crushing on each other for years and this slow burn story is how they get together。 Frankie is autistic and has rheumatoid arthritis, both aspects I felt were handled with care but your experience may vary。 In general, sports settings just are not ones I tend to read。 I don't have much to say about the hockey setting as it is just sort of background to me。 Overall, I enjoyed this story。 I liked the couple together。 I liked meeting the wider cast including their friends and the rest of the Bergman family。 Nice setup for other books in the series。 I do have particular things that annoyed me throughout the narrative。 For example, Ren is explicitly characterized to be a person that seeks calm when enraged。 However, his introduction to the audience as the person of Frankie's attraction is a scene when he doesn't keep calm and body checks a guy disrespectfully talking to her and she finds it hot。 It also has way too many Harry Potter references for my taste but it reads as something that is very important to Frankie。 I did appreciate that the harm JKR causes is specifically acknowledged during a discussion early on in the book。 So overall, enjoyed but had things I liked and didn't like。 I can see how people got invested in the Bergman series! 。。。more

You’re not alone。 So long as I’m here。“I’m tough,” I whisper。 He nods。 “I know you are。” “I can take care of myself。” “You have,” he says。 “You still do。 You always will。 I’ve just joined in, too。 Now we take care of each other。”“Jesus,” my mom whispers。 Ren glances nervously from me back to her。 I lean toward him and grin。 “Where do you think I got my love of gingers, Zenzero?”Her hand plays idly with my hair at the nape of my neck。 She has these little ways that she touches me—twirling my hair around her fingers, sliding my palm against hers in a steady rhythm—that make me feel like she’s wrapped me into her sensory habits, her need to move and touch, and I can’t find a word to explain how much that means to me。 Emotion hitches in my throat as she leans and presses a kiss to my neck。“You have my heart, Søren Bergman,” she whispers against my neck。 “Please, please be careful with it。”I press a kiss to her lips and whisper, “It was always only you。” Her cry breaks against my kissHer hand rests over my heart as I hold her eyes “Francesca?” “Yes, Søren。” “I love you。 Always。” “Always,” she whispers and seals it with a kiss。 。。。more

I loved Ren and Frankie’s story, such a joy to read the way their tentative friendship bloomed into more。 There were so many sweet moments between these two, as well as those more emotional, especially with the way Frankie is protective of herself while Ren wants to be supportive and carry some of that emotional weight with her。

Guys my symptoms present super similarly to the main character’s symptoms and it was so so so cool and healing to read about Frankie’s journey with herself and her disability and finding that she’s worthy of love as she is and that her disability isn’t a burden。 Also super sick to read about an able bodied person falling in love with a disabled person and being so completely fine with it without treating you like you’re about to break!! Anyway a little cliche and some things I didn’t love。 the m Guys my symptoms present super similarly to the main character’s symptoms and it was so so so cool and healing to read about Frankie’s journey with herself and her disability and finding that she’s worthy of love as she is and that her disability isn’t a burden。 Also super sick to read about an able bodied person falling in love with a disabled person and being so completely fine with it without treating you like you’re about to break!! I really enjoyed this but not as much as the first one! Frankie’s character really resonated with me。 Her being so open about her autism and the things that she thinks set her back and the way she interacts with people around her is honestly so relatable to me。 I feel like I haven’t read a book with a main character that is so similar to me before and she just hit the mark。 I love Ren’s character, he is so sweet and innocent and I love a book where he falls first and boy did he fall first 🥹 the I really enjoyed this but not as much as the first one! 3。5 starsRen is such an adorable cinnamon roll。 I love him。 I’m giving it 3。5 stars because I started to lose interest during the third act, which then resulted in me taking forever to finish the book。 I quite enjoyed everything before that though。 :)

4 starsRen is the most lovable cinnamon roll to have ever been written - he’s a hockey player, an unashamed romantic and hosts Shakespeare parties。 I also loved Frankie’s character although I can’t put into words why。 She’s the team social media coordinator and needs people to just say it like it is (she’s on the spectrum)。 She’s blunt but not in a “I’m being honest so I can’t be an asshole” way, and her approach to social interaction was really interesting。 Best part - there’s no/minimal miscom 4 starsRen is the most lovable cinnamon roll to have ever been written - he’s a hockey player, an unashamed romantic and hosts Shakespeare parties。 I also loved Frankie’s character although I can’t put into words why。 She’s the team social media coordinator and needs people to just say it like it is (she’s on the spectrum)。 She’s blunt but not in a “I’m being honest so I can’t be an asshole” way, and her approach to social interaction was really interesting。 Best part - there’s no/minimal miscommunication in their relationship! This book was so interesting learning more about different levels on the spectrum along with considering the invisible medical things people face that we have no idea。There were so many laugh out loud moment。 I loved the inserts of Shakespeare but also Jane Austen’s writing well。 I adored that the FMC loved Harry Potter。 Ren was also one of my favorite cinnamon roll men I’ve read in awhile。 So “adorkable”
